DNC stands for Demonstrated Node Configuration. The team that built EPA's Central Data Exchange Node, a fully functional node on the Exchange Network, has developed DNCs, which contain a reusable web services tier that can be used by other Node builders to quickly establish Node communication. DNCs are available in the following configurations:
Java based Apache Axis 1.1 DNC
DNC for server side using Microsoft .NET C#
DNC for server side using Microsoft .NET VB
The team that built the State of Washington's node, the first fully functional State Node, has also provided a DNC which describes their detailed Node configuration. Through the use of these DNCs, states can leverage work that has already been documented by implementing one of the Demonstrated Node Configurations, reducing the cost and time of implementation. Node 1.1 participants (i.e., the State Mentoring Group: see the section called “What is the Exchange Network Mentoring Group? What can they do for me? How do I contact them?” below) believe that DNCs serve as the best starting points for your node-building project.
